Immediate success for Aamir Khan’s Satyamev Jayate

Satyamev Jayate, the new Star India TV show from Bollywood star Aamir Khan, has hit ratings gold, reaching almost half of homes in India's top six metros in its first week on air.

Mid-week data from media measurement company TAM indicates 47.6% of the population of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad watched the first episode of the 13-part talk based series last Sunday (6 May).
In total, the show reached 14 million cable and satellite homes in India, while 400,000 terrestrial viewers also tuned into the hard hitting show via the public broadcaster Doordarshan (DD).
Satyamev Jayate opened at 4.27 television ratings points (TVR) for cable, satellite and terrestrial audiences of over four years across the multiple channels that showed it in India: Star Plus, Star Pravah, DD National, Star Utsav, ETV, Vijay, Star Jalsha, Star World and Asianet.
The three metros in the Hindi speaking markets recorded 5.2 TVR for cable and satellite audiences on the Star network, with Delhi reaching 6.5 and Mumbai at 5.7 TVR. Star Plus alone achieved a 3.79 TVR for the 11am-12.30pm slot in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.
