Aquilani: Will meet with Liverpool before deciding future

AQUILANI WAITING ON REDS TALKS

Alberto Aquilani is keen to know where he will be playing in 2012/13, but accepts he must wait until Liverpool's managerial situation has been resolved.
The Italy international has been frozen out of the picture at Anfield in the last two seasons, taking in loan spells at Juventus and AC Milan.


It is expected that he will complete a permanent move away from Merseyside this summer, with a number of Serie A sides reported to be keen.
Aquilani is, however, still contracted to Liverpool and must wait to hear whether he figures in the plans of their incoming boss.
The Reds are understood to be closing in on a successor to Kenny Dalglish, with Brendan Rodgers poised to inherit the reins, but Aquilani must wait for that process to be completed before discovering where he stands.


"I need to understand whether there are conditions for an agreement that satisfies everyone," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I'm waiting for Liverpool to decide the name of the new coach, then we will meet in order to understand their plans. Only then will I be able to make the right decision.
"It is important that I have the opportunity to make a contribution, to be able to play well and play regularly."


Aquilani's agent admits he too is waiting on news regarding the Anfield hot-seat before looking into a possible move for his client.
"The situation is that there have been no developments," Franco Zavaglia told spaziomilan.it.
"We must be patient and wait for Liverpool to make a decision.
"There is no problem, but before talking about what Alberto wants to do we must first understand what the British club intend to do."

Zdenek Zeman: Set to sign one-year deal

ROMA CLOSE IN ON ZEMAN

Roma are expected to announce the appointment of Zdenek Zeman as their new coach by the end of this week.
The Giallorossi are looking to fill the vacancy created by the departure of coach Luis Enrique earlier this month.
Czech Zeman, who confirmed on Wednesday he is in advanced talks with Roma over the position, is set to sign a one-year contract with the Giallorossi outfit.
"We will soon make official our new coach,"


Roma's club administrator Claudio Fenucci said to Corriere dello Sport. "Then we will begin to build the team that we hope will give great satisfaction to our fans this year."
Roma endured a disappointing campaign under Luis Enrique and finished outside of the European places in seventh.
The vastly-experienced Zeman, 65, has already coached Roma once in his long career, from 1997 until 1999, and last season guided Pescara to promotion to Serie A in his first year at the club.

Patrick Owomoyela: New one-year deal

OWOMOYELA EXTENDS DORTMUND STAY

Borussia Dortmund have given former Germany international Patrick Owomoyela a one-year contract extension until 2013.
The 32-year-old, who was part of Germany's 2005 Confederations Cup squad, has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, making just 76 appearances in four years with Dortmund, but the Bundesliga champions are convinced he can still play an important role for them next season.
"We believe that, once Patrick has fully recovered from injury, he will remain an important component of our squad due to his qualities as a footballer and his experience," said Dortmund's director of sport Michael Zorc.


Owomoyela said: "I am very pleased that the club is showing faith in me despite a few unfortunate, badly-timed injuries and that I can now play a fifth year in Dortmund."
The contract of back-up goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak has also been extended on Thursday with the Australian now committed to the double winners until 2016.


"Mitch has continuously improved over the past two years and we are convinced that he has all the capabilities that a world-class goalkeeper requires," commented Zorc on the Westphalian club's website.

Simon Kjaer: I am not going to call the manager

KJAER RULES OUT WOLFSBURG RETURN

Wolfsburg defender Simon Kjaer, who spent this season on loan at Roma, claims he will not return to the Bundesliga club this summer.
The 23-year-old Dane is contracted to the Wolves until 2014, but insists going back to the club is out of the question while Felix Magath is still in charge.
"I am not going to call Mr Magath," he said. "It goes without saying that I will not be returning to Wolfsburg."
The former Palermo defender was shipped out last summer after Magath decided he was not part of his plans.


Roma have yet to make a bid for the Denmark international and he is biding his time until an offer comes in.
"At the moment, I am concentrating on the European Championships and then we will see," he told Kicker magazine.
"I will never player under Magath again."
