    Voller - Schurrle must stay

Leverkusen boss insists club has no choice but to keep young star
    Last Updated: July 16, 2012 5:32pm

Andre Schurrle: Reported Chelsea target has been told he will be staying at Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen general manager Rudi Voller has ruled out the sale of Andre Schurrle to Chelsea.
The 21-year-old Germany international has been linked with a move to West London but Voller insists there is no chance of a bid being accepted because it is not possible to sign a replacement.

"There is no alternative to the decision of not selling Andre Schurrle," Voller told kicker-Sportmagazin. "We are unable to sign a replacement.
"Those adequate players that are available are too expensive and therefore we would be forced to sign a weaker player overpriced.
"The matter is over with and I have also told Andre so."
Leverkusen director Wolfgang Holzhauser was similarly exasperated by continued reports suggesting Schurrle could be on his way and sought to end all the speculation.

"We have not received any new bid from Chelsea for Andre Schurrle," said Holzhauser. "And we really do not want to talk about this topic anymore."
Leverkusen signed Schurrle from Mainz in 2011 and the midfielder is under contract to the club until 2016.

    Laudrup eyes more signings

Swansea boss keen to add to squad but remains quiet on targets
    Last Updated: July 16, 2012 4:44pm

Michael Laudrup: Swansea boss determined to stay quiet over transfer targets

Michael Laudrup admits there is still work to do in the transfer market as he prepares Swansea for their second Premier League season.
Laudrup replaced Brendan Rodgers as Swansea manager last month and has already added Chico Flores and Jonathan de Guzman to the squad.

But with last season's loanees Steven Caulker and Gylfi Sigurdsson having left the club, Swansea have not strengthened the group of players who so impressed with their flowing football last term.
"The only thing we do by mentioning names is put the prices up, and the only people who will be satisfied with that are the clubs who own the players. We cannot say so much, but we are working on things"
Michael Laudrup Quotes of the week

As a result, Laudrup is expected to bring in at least two more major signings before the new campaign starts next month.
The Danish boss is thought to be eyeing additional goalscoring options with Middlesbrough's Marvin Emnes and Wolves forward Kevin Doyle both linked with moves to the Liberty Stadium.
    Work to do

"There's more work to do," Laudrup told the South Wales Evening Post.
"I don't want to say so much about the names, because we have to realise there are a lot of clubs in the same position as we are right now.
"We have to spend our money well. We have to do things quietly because if we talk too much, other clubs will say 'Oh, we would like that as well'.

"The only thing we do by mentioning names is put the prices up, and the only people who will be satisfied with that are the clubs who own the players.
"We cannot say so much, but we are working on things."
    Ideal

Ideally, Laudrup would like to bring new signings in before Swansea's pre-season trip to America next weekend but he realises that could be optimistic.
"An ideal world in football doesn't exist. It would be best for us if we could get the new players in before we go," the 48-year-old added.
"I'm happy with the two signings we have and we are working on others as well."
Michael Laudrup Quotes of the week

"I'm happy with the two signings we have and we are working on others as well, but there are a lot of things to consider because you have the player, the club, the other club.
"A lot of things have to come together before we can make the signings, but hopefully before US would be great. Let's see - it's possible."
In the meantime, Laudrup insists he will give every player the chance to impress during pre-season.

"I wanted to come here and give players a chance to see what they've got," he said.
"I don't want to throw anybody away."

    Narsingh moves to PSV

Winger agrees five-year contract in £3million move
    Last Updated: July 16, 2012 10:31pm

Luciano Narsingh: Has signed a five-year contract with PSV Eindhoven

PSV Eindhoven have won the battle for Luciano Narsingh after signing the winger on a five-year deal from rivals Heerenveen.
Last week, Ajax decided to end their interest in the 21-year-old after Heerenveen stood firm on their asking price.
But PSV have now worked out a deal which is reported to be worth in the region of €4million (£3m).
"Of course we were working for it for a long time," technical director Marcel Brands told PSV TV.

"We already said that we won't have a great revolution this summer. We have only signed players on a free transfer and wanted to make one purchase.
"We focused on Luciano Narsingh. Luciano is a winger with great potential."
Narsingh is PSV's fifth signing of the summer after already acquiring Mathias Jorgensen, Mark van Bommel, Boy Waterman and Ruud Swinkels.

    Muniesa set for Ajax loan

Barcelona talent wants to play for Ajax, says Overmars
By Lucas Brown. Last Updated: July 16, 2012 9:54pm

Marc Muniesa: Set to join Ajax on loan to replace Jan Vertonghen

Ajax are confident of landing Barcelona youngster Marc Muniesa on a season-long loan to replace captain Jan Vertonghen.
Vertonghen joined Tottenham earlier this month but Ajax's sporting director, Marc Overmars, has acted quickly by turning to his former club Barca in order to strengthen the Dutch side's defence.
Muniesa is highly-rated having appeared twice for the first team under Pep Guardiola and the Catalan club are keen for him to sign a new deal at the Camp Nou.

But the 20-year-old is also expected to be allowed to continue his development in Holland.
"He wants to come here and is open to the possibility," Overmars told De Telegraaf.
"Barcelona will talk to him on Tuesday and offer a new contract and once he has signed that he will be allowed to talk to Ajax.
"We will receive a call from the Barcelona and I will be waiting for that."
    Good fit

Ajax coach Frank de Boer, also a former Barca player, approves of the move for the Spain Under 21 international and already has thoughts on how he would use the versatile young talent.
"Muniesa has played many games in Spain's Segunda A division (with Barca B)," said De Boer.
"I have seen many DVDs of him. He has a great left foot and genuinely fits the Ajax profile.
"I do not see him as a defensive midfielder, but more as a left-back or central defender."
