    Dortmund want Schmelzer deal

Zorc praises Germany international's quality for champions

Marcel Schmelzer: Borussia Dortmund want to secure the Germany international on a longer contract

Borussia Dortmund are hoping to tie down left-back Marcel Schmelzer to a new contract after Jakub Blaszczykowski pledged his future to the club last week.

Schmelzer was part of Germany's squad at Euro 2012, but he failed to make an appearance during the run to the semi-finals in Poland and Ukraine.
The 24-year-old is a key member of the Dortmund side and still has two years remaining on his contract with the reigning Bundesliga champions.
However, general manager Michael Zorc is keen to hand the defender a longer contract and outlined the qualities that Schmelzer brings to the club.

"We are trying to sign a new long-term contract with him," Zorc told kicker-Sportmagazin. "He is doing an excellent job at left-back.
"The total package that he is offering to us as a player is just super!
"He is tactically strong, has a great defensive mind and a splendid left foot - one that turns out to be a weapon every now and then. He has loads of quality."

    Bayern won't chase Martinez

Bender also a target but Bayern claim they do not want to aggravate
    Last Updated: July 31, 2012 5:34pm

Javi Martinez: The Spain international has a 40m euro release clause in his contract

Bayern Munich are not hiding their interest in Athletic Bilbao's Javi Martinez or Bayer Leverkusen's Lars Bender but they do not want to push the deals at the risk of damaging their relations with the two clubs.

Last season's defeated UEFA Champions League finalists and Bundesliga runners-up have been expected to attempt to make statements of intent in the improvements to their squad this summer.
Bayern have been linked with Manchester City's Dutch defensive midfielder, Nigel de Jong, but they have also been reported as considering activating the €40million (£31.5m) release clause in classy Spain international Martinez's Bilbao contract.

Leverkusen's Germany international, Bender, is another target, however, Bayern claim they do not want to cause aggravation and they also say they have total faith in the existing players at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern director Matthias Sammer told BILD: "We have not planned to pull up alternatives to these two (Martinez and Bender).
    Signal

"It would be great to sign one of these players, of course. But it is not a big deal. We fully trust in our current squad. It is a quality squad."
Bayern chairman Uli Hoeness is also wary of disrupting players despite offering hints to potential targets.
He said: "A holding midfielder of class would just be the icing on our cake right now.
"Still, we will not pay out the release clause in terms of Martinez. And a transfer of Bender would just be a matter of whether we receive a certain signal from Bayer Leverkusen.
"We are not going further to submit offers. Going further ahead in this would not be serious. We are not out to cause unrest at Bayer Leverkusen."

    Sakho not for sale

PSG will not part with home-grown talent

Mamadou Sakho: Still considered to be an important part of PSG's plans

Lyon are among those to have expressed an interest in Paris St Germain's Mamadou Sakho, but have been informed that the defender is not for sale.
Sakho has also been linked with a move to England and to Serie A giants AC Milan since the summer transfer window opened.

Thiago Silva's arrival at Parc des Prince has sparked the rumours, with it felt that the 22-year-old may be forced down the pecking order.
It has been suggested that he could be the ideal candidate to replace Silva in Milan, with the Rossoneri in the market for a new centre-half.
Lyon are also looking to bolster their ranks and have enquired as to the availability of Sakho and midfielder Clement Chantome.
    Educated

It is, however, unlikely that PSG will be agreeing to part with two academy products any time soon.
"Chantome and Sakho are two players that are very difficult to get because they were educated at the club," Bernard Lacombe, advisor to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas, told belNSport.

"PSG are forced to register four players educated by the club in the Champions League. So they will not part with them.
"PSG replied 'no' to us both on sport and administrative levels."
