    Suarez signs Reds extension

Striker pens new long-term contract at Anfield
    Last Updated: August 7, 2012 6:18pm

Luis Suarez: Liverpool striker ended any uncertainty regarding his future by penning a new deal

Liverpool have confirmed that Luis Suarez has committed his long-term future to the club by penning a contract extension.
Sky Sports revealed earlier on Tuesday that the Uruguay international was poised to agree fresh terms with the Reds.

An agreement has now been thrashed out, just 24 hours after Suarez re-joined the Reds fold following his involvement at the 2012 Olympics.
New Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has convinced the 25-year-old that he is in the perfect place for his career, bringing to an end any uncertainty regarding his future.

Suarez insists he was more than happy to put pen to paper just 18 months after arriving in England on a five-and-a-half-year deal from Ajax.
"To sign a new contract with Liverpool is unbelievable for me because I am so happy here at both the club and also in the city," he told the Reds' official website.
"That is important for me and I am very happy with my new contract.
    Dream

"To sign a new contract with Liverpool is unbelievable for me because I am so happy here at both the club and also in the city."
Luis Suarez Quotes of the week
"When you are a kid, everybody wants to play for Liverpool. I am here now and it is a dream for me, and now I am a Liverpool fan.
"I am happy off the pitch because the people of Liverpool are good with me and my family. I try my best on the pitch and when you are happy off the pitch, you are happy on the pitch.

"I want to say thank-you to the fans because they are our 12th player. The supporters of Liverpool are unbelievable.
"Five or six years ago I watched on TV the stadium and the club, and now I play here and the supporters have helped me. That's very important for me."

Rodgers added: "I'm delighted. When you have the opportunity to work with world-class players it's fantastic.
"There were certainly a few clubs who were interested in him but over the off-season he and I communicated well - and he's committed himself for the long term here now.
"He's really looking forward to playing in this way of working. As a manager and for the supporters, I'm delighted because I know how important he is for them."

    Ayala joins Forest on loan

Former Liverpool defender heads to Championship side
    Last Updated: August 7, 2012 5:28pm

Daniel Ayala: Norwich defender has joined Nottingham Forest on loan for the season

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Daniel Ayala from Norwich City on a season-long loan deal.
The 21-year-old is the sixth arrival at the City Ground this summer as they look to construct a competitive Championship squad.
Ayala sustained a knee injury last season which restricted him to just 10 appearances for the Canaries.

His switch to the Championship side will provide him with the opportunity to secure regular first-team football, something that could not be guaranteed at Carrow Road.
Forest chairman Omar Al Hasawi told the club's official website: "It is pleasing to have signed a player with such a wonderful pedigree.
"He's only 21 but has experienced life in the Premier League as well as in the Championship, and adds to the defensive resources at Sean O'Driscoll's disposal."

The Spain Under-21 international made five Premier League appearances for Liverpool before last summer's switch to Norwich in a £800,000 deal.

    Lascelles commits to Reds

Highly-rated defender pens four-year deal with Forest

    Last Updated: August 7, 2012 5:47pm

The City Ground: Nottingham Forest are delighted to see Jamaal Lascelles pen a long-term contract

Jamaal Lascelles has put an end to any uncertainty regarding his future at Nottingham Forest by signing a new four-year contract at the City Ground.
The 18-year-old defender is considered to be a hot prospect for the future and has been courted by some of the biggest clubs in the country.
The Premier League elite have been keeping a close eye on his development for some time and were reported to be ready to pounce this summer.
Forest have, however, welcomed the dawn of an exciting new era following the arrival of the Al Hasawi family as their new owners.
    Exciting

Lascelles has been convinced that he can fulfil his ambitions with the Reds and club chairman Omar Al Hasawi is delighted to have wrapped up a long-term deal for the youngster.
He told Forest's official website: "We're great believers in the development of exciting young talent and Jamaal fits into that category.
"Jamaal clearly feels his best hope of continuing to grow and develop as a player is by staying with us and we're delighted he has signed a new long-term deal."

A product of the club's academy system, Lascelles made his senior debut for Forest against Burnley in January and picked up valuable first-team experience during a loan spell at Stevenage towards the end of the 2011/12 campaign.

    Huntelaar to make deal decision

Striker reluctant to leave contract talks until season is under way
    Last Updated: August 7, 2012 9:53pm

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar: Has just 12 months left to run on his current contract

Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar claims it is his intention to have resolved any outstanding issues regarding his future by the time the new season gets under way.
The Holland international has just 12 months left to run on his current deal.

As a proven goalscorer at the highest level, there is no shortage of interest in his services.
Were he to open the door to a summer switch, Schalke would be left with little option but to cash in on his talents.
They are, however, still trying to put a contract extension in place and Huntelaar has hinted that he is willing to stay.
    Decision

He has also sought to play down rumours suggesting that he is stalling on a new deal in an effort to inherit the club captaincy from Benedikt Howedes.
"My decision will now be one made by gut instinct," said Huntelaar.
"I am looking to make a quick decision and not wait until the season has begun."
On the armband debate, he added: "(Howedes) is a strong character.
"He is an important Schalke player. He is a person that symbolises this club. I feel that he could go on (as captain)."
