Roma want to keep De Rossi

Midfielder linked to Man City but it will be tough to prise him away
    Last Updated: August 8, 2012 2:31pm

Daniele De Rossi: Not for sale but Roma would be prepared to consider a decent offer

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has insisted that Daniele De Rossi is not for sale, although he admits some offers are impossible to refuse.
Manchester City are reported to be interested in bringing in the 29-year-old midfielder, who has spent his entire career in the Italian capital.

De Rossi revealed earlier in the summer that he had received an offer to play in the Premier League and described English football as 'more interesting' than Serie A.
Sabatini insists that Roma have no intention of letting De Rossi leave, but would be prepared to discuss a sale if the right bid came in.
"De Rossi is not for sale, but in football there are situations that you cannot predict," he told reporters.
    Difficult

"There is flexibility for all players, even for those from Roma.
"If a club came to us with a proposal that you could not refuse, we would speak about it.
"But it is not an actual perspective. De Rossi is crucial for us and it's difficult to consider his sale."

Sabatini's stance is much the same when it comes to the future of striker Pablo Osvaldo, who has been mentioned as a possible transfer target for Inter Milan but remains a key part of Roma's plans.
He explained: "The unsellable players no longer exist, but he is a very strong and important player for us and we don't want to give away someone we consider important."

    Porto to hold Pereira talks

Agent to meet with team officials as transfer speculation rages
    Last Updated: August 8, 2012 2:25pm

Alvaro Pereira: Reports suggest flying full-back could be on his way to Chelsea

Alvaro Pereira's agent is to hold 'important' talks with Porto as mounting speculation suggests the defender is on his way to Chelsea.
The Uruguay international has been a target for the Blues for some time, with the Premier League outfit first making their interest known last summer.

The presence of former Porto boss Andre Villas-Boas at Stamford Bridge helped to fuel an endless round of rumours, but the London-based outfit remain keen despite a change in the dugout.
Roberto Di Matteo is a fan of Pereira and believes he could be a useful addition to his ranks.
    Meeting

The 26-year-old is very much a modern day full-back and is as comfortable bombing forward as he is defending his own goal.
Porto are fully aware of the reports linking their South American star with a move to England and are due to discuss the matter with Pereira's representative in the coming days.

"We are due to hold an important meeting with Porto, but I do not want to speculate on what the outcome will be," Alejandro Savich told Maisfutebol.
Reports in Portugal suggest Pereira could leave on an initial loan deal, with the view to a permanent agreement being struck next summer.

    United waiting on RVP

Ferguson says Arsenal are 'not giving anything away'
    Last Updated: August 8, 2012 10:12pm

Robin van Persie: The Arsenal striker does not want to sign a new contract at Emirates Stadium

Sir Alex Ferguson remains hopeful of signing Robin van Persie but Manchester United are still struggling to make progress with Arsenal.
The Old Trafford boss in July confirmed he had made a bid for the Gunners striker, who does not want sign a new contract at Emirates Stadium.
United's rivals, Premier League champions Manchester City, and Juventus also want Van Persie but meeting Arsenal's asking price is proving difficult.

Ferguson is determined to get his man, having already missed out on Lucas Moura after the Brazilian's move to Paris Saint Germain was confirmed earlier on Wednesday.
But after watching his side lose a high-profile friendly on penalties to Barcelona in Gothenburg, Ferguson said about Van Persie: "We've made a bid.

"They (Arsenal) have been trying to negotiate with other clubs. We have to persevere. Hopefully it comes our way."
The Scot also said: "I don't know what Arsenal's thoughts are because they're not giving anything away."
    More to follow...
