    Campbell set for Blackpool talks

Forward holding discussions with Championship side
    Last Updated: August 10, 2012 2:54pm

DJ Campbell: Forward could be set to leave QPR for Blackpool this summer

Sky Sports understands that Queens Park Rangers have given permission for DJ Campbell to hold talks with Blackpool over a return to Bloomfield Road.
Campbell only joined boyhood idols Rangers last summer on a two-year contract, but he endured an injury-plagued season and only made three starts for the club.

Having been signed by former QPR manager Neil Warnock last summer, it was always open to question whether the 30-year-old was part of current boss Mark Hughes' plans.
QPR will begin their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Swansea City on Saturday, 18th August, while Blackpool will confront Millwall away in their opening game of the Championship season.

    Di Matteo sees Sturridge role

Lukaku set for Chelsea loan exit but players could still come in
    Last Updated: August 10, 2012 2:55pm

Daniel Sturridge: Chelsea boss believes forward still has a lot to give

Roberto Di Matteo has backed Daniel Sturridge to play a big role at Chelsea but hinted that signing another striker may be a priority.
Sturridge scored nine times in the Premier League before Christmas last season but then faded, only adding two more goals and sitting on the bench as an unused substitute in the UEFA Champions League final.
As a result, the 22-year-old England international has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge but Di Matteo insists Sturridge still has a part to play.

"He is part of the squad, of the team, and still has a lot to give," Di Matteo told the club's official website.
"He still has a lot to learn as well but we are hopeful he can develop even more and become a great player for us.
"He did very well to recover from his illness in a short period of time. He is a very exciting player and it's great for him to be involved in the England squad.

"He has the ability to play in more than one position. He made it quite public he likes to play as a number nine but there is competition, which is good, and we will see as the season starts who is going to play."
    Competition

The competition for places could become tougher for Sturridge as Di Matteo has suggested that more signings could arrive before the end of the transfer window.
But one man likely to leave on a temporary basis is Belgium international striker Romelu Lukaku who has expressed a desire to play first-team football.
Di Matteo agrees that is the best option for the 19-year-old former Anderlecht forward.

"At this stage of his career the most important thing is to play," added Di Matteo.
"It might be a bit more difficult here with us so it's the best choice to let him go out on loan.
"We are a little bit light in a couple of positions and we've got one or two young players who are interesting but we will see what is going to go on and see what happens when the market closes."

    Diarra set for West Ham

Marseille midfielder on the verge of being confirmed as a Hammer
    Last Updated: August 10, 2012 3:29pm

Alou Diarra: The France international is on the brink of a move to West Ham

West Ham look set to complete the signing of France midfielder Alou Diarra from Marseille.
The Hammers have issued a statement on their official website revealing they are on the brink of completing a significant signing on Friday.
Sky Sports sources understand the player in question is 31-year-old Diarra, who was reportedly set to arrive in London earlier this week to undergo a medical ahead of a £2million move.

A statement on the club's official website read: "West Ham United are hopeful of tying up a major new signing in the next few hours.
"The deal for the international star is at an advanced stage and it is hoped the transfer will be confirmed later on Friday."
Diarra played every minute of France's group games at Euro 2012 but was axed by coach Laurent Blanc for the quarter-final defeat to Spain following an altercation with Samir Nasri.
And his exit from Marseille appeared inevitable after he reported back from national team duty this summer six days late and was fined by the club.

It will not be the player's first spell in English football as he had three years at Liverpool from 2002 to 2005 but spent much of it back in France on loan and did not feature for the Reds.
Meanwhile, West Ham are reported to have had a bid of £9million rejected by Wolves for England international winger Matt Jarvis.

    Last Updated: August 10, 2012 4:30pm

Paulo Machado: Portuguese midfielder poised to join Olympiakos

Toulouse midfielder Paulo Machado will arrive in Athens on Sunday to undergo a medical before completing his move to Olympiakos.
Olympiakos made the announcement on Friday, as all agreements over transfer fee and salary have been reached.

Machado will sign a three-year contract with the Greek giants should he pass the medical and will received an annual salary of €1.4million (£1m).
Toulouse will be paid a transfer fee of €2.4million (£1.9m).
Machado, 26, joined Toulouse in 2009 and established himself as an important player in the team.
