    Wenger believes in Bendtner

Gunners boss says striker still has a future at the Emirates
    Last Updated: September 7, 2012 12:55pm

Nicklas Bendtner: Has linked up with Juventus on a season-long loan

Arsene Wenger claims to have never lost faith in Nicklas Bendtner and says there could be a route back to the Arsenal first-team for the Danish striker.
The 24-year-old has never been short on self-belief, but has struggled to produce his best in limited outings for the Gunners.
A lack of regular starts has done little to aid his cause and he has grown increasingly frustrated with life at the Emirates.
A loan spell at Sunderland last season allowed him to spearhead a Premier League attack, and he fared admirably in a team which ended the campaign in 13th place.
He was reluctant to return to Arsenal and another bit-part role in North London, and Juventus offered him a further loan opportunity.
    Value

Wenger believes Bendtner, who impressed for Denmark at Euro 2012, will show his true colours in Serie A and has refused to rule out the prospect of him leading Arsenal's line at some point in the future.
"He can do well in Italy," the Gunners boss told Corriere dello Sport.
"He's a top player for me, but he's had difficulties here. You can't doubt the player's value though.
"We believe in him and that is why we only gave him to Juventus on loan.
"I think he can resolve his problems with us and prove himself. We believe in him."
    Value

While Juve were able to lure Bendtner to Serie A over the summer, they missed out on Robin van Persie.
Wenger claims the package pieced together by the Turin giants fell well short of Arsenal's valuation, despite the Dutchman having only 12 months left to run on his contract.
"Juventus can't think about selling players for €70million and then buying new ones for a tenth of that amount," he said.
"That would be too easy, but that is not possible in today's football.
"Van Persie would have been a free agent in the summer of 2013, but we decided to sell after Manchester United made a great offer."

    Redknapp takes Bournemouth role
    Last Updated: September 7 2012, 17:13 BST

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is back in football after accepting an advisory role at Bournemouth.

    Harry Redknapp: Advising Bournemouth
The 65-year-old has been out of the game since his surprise sacking by Tottenham on June 14 despite leading them to a fourth-placed finish in the Barclays Premier League last season.
But Redknapp has now agreed to return to Bournemouth - where he began his career in management in 1983 - to offer advice and expertise to the npower League One club.

    18 Coventry 3
    19 Bournemth 3
    20 Colchester 3
    21 Portsmouth 2

Redknapp enjoyed a successful time at Bournemouth, helping them escape relegation from the Football League in his first season in charge before producing a shock FA Cup win over holders Manchester United.
The Cherries were crowned Third Division champions in the 1986/87 season but were relegated several years later and Redknapp quit the club in the summer of 1992.
Redknapp will travel with the squad to Saturday's league clash with Yeovil at Huish Park.

Chairman Eddie Mitchell told the club's official website: "I met Harry for a chat this morning and he offered to come in on a voluntary basis.
"He still has a passion for the club and for football and he's got too much to offer for us to let him slip through our fingers.
"It's been in my mind for quite some time to get him involved, and the timing seems to be perfect for us to tap into his knowledge."

Rodgers - No rift with owners
    Last Updated: September 7 2012, 13:49 BST

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists there is no rift with the club's owners but admits a lot has been learned from this summer's transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers: Says lessons have been learned
Criticism has been levelled at Fenway Sports Group following the failure to bring in a replacement after striker Andy Carroll was loaned to West Ham.
Rodgers admitted he would not have let the England international leave had he not been confident he could bring in a replacement but a deal for Fulham's Clint Dempsey fell through because FSG would not pay what they considered an inflated price.
That led to suggestions the manager had been undermined by the owners but he stressed he understood the situation when he took over in June.

"I've had long conversations with the owners," he said.
"I've got to say they have been very honest and very up front right from the off.
"I came here first and foremost because of the owners. I felt a genuine honesty in their approach to it and in how they wanted to go forward with the football club."
Rodgers, speaking at a forum with representatives of Liverpool fan sites and blogs, added: "Of course the window didn't quite go to plan but going forward a great deal of learning has taken place.

"Every manager always wants more players but the reality of where the club is at there needed to be a little bit of surgery done on the squad.
"Some of the wages here were absolutely astronomical in terms of value and worth. That needed to be looked at.
"I knew there would be a wee bit of pain in the short term but hopefully for the longer-term gain.
"We finished up where we were at and now we have got to move forward as a football club and really have the one-club mentality."
Rodgers admits he is likely to have to buy in January, although he knows it will be tough to bring in the right players at the right price.
But in the intervening period he will have to draw on the resources he has - even if it means dipping into the reserve squad.
With so many players away on international duty the Northern Irishman has taken the opportunity to involve some of the club's promising youngsters in training sessions.

"I've tried to get around the youth team players, the reserve team players, and look at the level we have," he told liverpoolfc.com.
"First and foremost it's a chance for me to see the players working and see their improvements and try to help and guide them.
"They are trying to make steps up towards the first team and this gives them an opportunity to learn, and not just from the coaches.
"They come up here and train with Jamie Carragher, a guy who is in his 18th year as a professional.
"It is great for young players at 18 or 19 to see a guy who has been doing this work nearly as long as they've been alive and showing the same enthusiasm and commitment to want to learn and improve."

    Rooney wants long United stay
    Last Updated: September 7 2012, 15:10 BST

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney wants to spend the next decade with the club.

Rooney: Wants to stay at United for the rest of his career
The 26-year-old famously backtracked after making a transfer request two years ago and there has been further speculation over his future in recent weeks.
But the England international now regards his past attempt to leave as a big mistake and insists he wants to stay at Old Trafford as long as he can.
Rooney, who joined United from Everton in 2004, has now been playing in the top flight for 10 years.
When asked where he saw himself in another 10 years, Rooney told talkSPORT: "Hopefully still here at Man Utd. That's the aim, the plan and what I want to do.

"As long as this club wants me, I'll be here and trying to be successful."
Rooney regrets the furore he caused when he decided to seek a move.
He said: "Sometimes as a player you make bad choices and bad decisions, and I think that's what happened.
"Sometimes you see yourself somewhere else and that can play on your mind and make you say or do things you shouldn't have done.
"I realised I had made a mistake. I went back in to see David Gill and the manager. I told them I wanted to stay and be successful in the future."
Of the recent speculation, which has followed the club's signing of Robin van Persie, Rooney said: "I saw that but I didn't think anything of it.

"If the manager didn't want me around, I'm sure I'd be the first one he'd tell.
"That stuff you have to deal with but if I'm wanted at this football club, I'll be at this football club as long as possible."
Rooney has conducted a series of interviews to coincide with the launch of his latest autobiography, My Decade in the Premier League.
Throughout his time in football the forward has always had a reputation for hot-headedness but he believes he is now a more mature character.
He attributes that to becoming a father and learning a lesson from the ban he received after swearing at a TV camera at West Ham in April last year.
He said: "That was the biggest moment where I realised that was wrong and stupid and I need to change.
"I have tried to do that and feel I have. It wasn't great so hopefully that won't happen again."
Rooney became a parent when his son Kai was born in 2009.
He added on Sky Sports News: "You want to try to do right by your kids. When the incident happened at West Ham and I swore down the camera I was really disappointed with myself.

"I have made a conscious decision to try to stop silly things like that. I don't really want my kids seeing their dad doing that on TV."
Rooney enjoys working with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson despite recent claims from outside the club that their relationship is an uneasy one.
Rooney said: "It is incredible for him to be doing what he has been doing for so long and be so successful.
"Just watching him and working with someone who has done it so many times and continues to do it, that desire and winning mentality, it's incredible to be part of."
Rooney is currently out injured after suffering an horrendous gash in his leg in a challenge from Fulham's Hugo Rodallega a fortnight ago.
He was initially ruled out for around a month and, despite some reports he could be out longer, he feels his recovery is on track.
He said: "It is feeling good at the minute and is healing quite well, but it is basically down to the doctor.

"You have to be careful and I don't want to come back too soon because I could get a bang on it and it would open up again.
"We said at the time there was a four-week scale and that would be the case, I imagine."
When he does return to action, Rooney is relishing the prospect of another title battle with Manchester City.

City memorably pipped their rivals on goal difference on the final day last season but Rooney is determined to reverse that outcome.
He said: "I'm sure with the history of the club, the success, the fanbase, this club will always be challenging.
"Obviously City have come now and have got some fantastic players and a great team, but sometimes it is that challenge that brings the best out of you.
"Hopefully we can do that and get that title back."
