Tele 5 HD to launch in Austria

German commercial broadcaster Tele 5 wants to expand the distribution of its high-definition channel: Tele 5 HD will be available in Austria exclusively on HDTV platform HD Austria from October 2012.

Customers will receive the new addition without additional payment. The platform operated by pay-TV provider AustriaSat on Astra (19.2° East) will then contain a total of 11 HD channels.

Like HD+ in Germany, HD Austria distributes the HD versions of advertising-financed free-to-air channels for DTH satellite households in Austria. Access to the encrypted package costs €6.90 per month.

Tele 5 HD launched in October 2011. In Germany, the channel can be received via satellite on HD+ as well as on Deutsche Telekom's IPTV platform Entertain.
