Claudiu Saftiou has been confirmed as the president and CEO of the Romanian public broadcaster TVR by the country’s parliament.

Speaking afterwards, Saftiou said that the main objective of TVR’s administration remains the implementation of an economic recovery programme, adopted in a resolution by its board in August.
TVR closed one of its thematic channels (TVR Cultural) on September 15 and is expected to close a second (TVR Info) shortly.


Speaking back in August, Saftiou said that TVR had accumulated debts of €145.6 million and that they would take up to seven and half years to pay off.
