Uruguay’s Nuevo Siglo pay-TV operator incorporates BBC HD

BBC Worldwide Channels has signed an agreement with Riselco SA of Uruguay which will enable BBC HD to be viewed via the digital platform Nuevo Siglo.

Subscribers to the platform’s basic HD package will have access to BBC HD on Channel 711, allowing them access to the most acclaimed BBC documentaries and award-winning series, as well as other BBC programmes and concerts in a HD format.

"BBC HD has a unique offer for the Uruguayan public with access to television of the highest quality in a wide range of genres: drama, documentary, travel and adventure, concerts, science and nature," said Javier Casella, vice president of distribution Latin America and US Hispanic for BBC Worldwide. He added: "The launch of BBC HD in Uruguay is another example of the commitment to bring our members and viewers contents leading to another level of television viewing experience, while consolidating our signal growth in the region."

BBC HD offers innovative programming produced with 100% HD and backed by the prestigious hallmark of the BBC. As well as offering viewers carefully selected live entertainment, this month BBC HD will present the third season of the brilliant British series Luther, a psychological thriller written by suspense novelist Neil Cross. The series stars award-winning actor Idris Elba, who plays a brilliant but impulsive police detective working on the streets of London.

The list of BBC Worldwide Channels in LATAM currently consists of BBC Entertainment and CBeebies. BBC Entertainment offers a variety of high quality content including reality shows, drama, science fiction, lifestyle and movies, while CBeebies is a preschool brand which offers children learning experiences through fun.
