Panama’s president launches new TV channel

Panama’s president Ricardo Martinelli has launched a television channel, NexTV, formerly Panamanian chain RCM’s Channel 21.

Using the social network Twitter, the president expressed his joy at the release of the new channel.

The Panamanian newspaper The Star reported that this year the new TV station acquired ten cameras and made renovations costing over $100,000.

NexTV corporation is under the control of the Concessionaire Digital Television and Communications, SA, chaired by Riccardo Francolini, the Panamanian newspaper said.

Martinelli also has shares in TVN Channel 2 and said on Twitter that he was: "Proud to be a shareholder in TVN Channel 2."
