South Korean telco LG U+ has launched a new multi-screen TV service called ‘LG u+tv’ offering linear and on-demand TV integrated with apps and compatible with Google TV devices.
Featuring 126 TV channels, the service is available on TVs, PCs, tablets and smartphones, and comes with apps including Search, YouTube, Google Play and the Google Chrome web browser.
US firm Envivio got the nod to provide the video encoders/transcoders necessary to power the new service, having already provided similar hardware to power LG U+’s managed IPTV service ‘LG Uplus’.
The Korea telco revealed earlier this month that it passed the milestone of 1mn IPTV subscribers in the third quarter of this year, up 21% from one year earlier .
