I hope dont lock down the various ABCs & SBSs ect on the new bird . I have a bad feeling they will .

There is no particular reason for them to do that, providing the service is on an Australian exclusive beam. Both the ABC and SBS have the rights to broadcast all of their services to all of Australia, so there is nothing to fear in people picking it up FTA. The reason the aurora channels on c1 are encrypted is that stations like imparja, seven central, WIN and GWN only own their programming rights for certain parts of the country because they buiy them off the commercial networks. For example Channel 9 don't want imparja broacasting the Cricket into Sydney and Melbourne.

The only reason why they might encrypt is if the signals are accessible in places where they don't own the rights - eg. New Zealand. Given that they are feeds to broadcast transmitters, having them unencrypted makes it much easier to maintain and service.

OZ an NZ will become similar to that of broadcasts in Europe, no boarders divders are necessary on beams.

Good news fellas, D1 is in position and so far there are 11 transponders working on it, about 40 channels beaming into australia, let's hope our kiwi mates are also getting them.

Imparja and 7 central are now on this bird , 12641 H 5425.

7 central went walkabout to-day but was replaced by channel 10 on the same transponder , all you have to do is re-scan that tp to get it up and running . Imparja is fine .

I would like a favour from our kiwi friends , what are you able to pick up on D1 , a responce would truly be appreciated .

Hi mate, We get the same as we did on B1. Sky tv channels (all encrypted), TV3, C4 and Prime TV (also encrypted), Maori TV, TVNZ 1 & 2, Bloomberg, DWTV, CCTV9 and another TVNZ channel all FTA

It's a pity that you guy's have'nt lobby'ed senator Coonan in australia to see if it would be possible to also send the australian signal into NZ SO THAT THE AUSSIES living there could keep up to the aussie news ,
Why dont you guy's try it , it may work .
