Spanish TV production company Zinkia fulfilled its goal of reaching an EBITDA of €7 million in 2012, compared to €1 million in 2011, according to the company's president and founding partner José María Castillejo.
The company quadrupled its profit in the first six months of 2012 due to international expansion into key markets including the US, Turkey, Russia, Italy, China and Latin America, according to Europa Press.
Castillejo said that the company is increasingly diversified geographically and added that the Spanish market now contributes less to the company's turnover. Spain previously made up 90% of the company's turnover, but made up only 25% in 2012, and Castillejo predicts that in 2013 it will contribute only 10%.
Zinkia's president said that the Spanish Government should support audiovisual companies with regard to investors being exempt from paying tax in order to generate business and employment. Castillejo also referred to the plight of small companies' dependence on the banks.
