does anybody have any software to upload/dowload channels lists and firmware on this stb?
have tryed all applications from humax site but none seem to work.
Dead Humax 5400Z
I recently purchased from Victoria via Ebay a Humax 5400z
The box arrived undamaged and in apparently good condition.
When I turned it on nothing very much happened no lights nothing, however
after five minutes or so it outputed a signal to the television telling me that
it was receiving no signal.
This was fair enough as I had not connected it up to the dish.I turned it off
connected it to the dish then turned it back on.
(The dish runs my satellite computer card okay.)
Nothing, no lights,nothing, occasionally if you turn it on and catch it by surprise the standby light blinks.
I have tried loading that "cleaning" software you have on your site but the
box will not accept an input from the computer.
I don't know anything about these things, the vendor swears on his mothers
grave that it was okay when it left his place,but it looks to me at the very least to be dodgy software.
Suggestions would be much appreciated.

I don't want to make mistakes any more! To be precise what DRAGON CAM and CARD you will propose? I think they are of different types. Would I be able to get access to as many channels as one would with patched Humax box? What is the difference then?

Welcome, Great to see you, I will copy this thread to the Humax section, and, with luck, some of our GURUs will be able to help you.
A lot will depend on what some nut has tried to do with it.
First of all, Which SAT are you looking at?
Have you got a card inserted for the encryption of that SAT?
Have you ascertained the Transponder Frequencies and symbol rates?
What sort of LNB are you using?
If it is one of the Optus SATs, it needs a preset SKEW, which may be different to what you have.
Does it cater for Horizontal and Vertical Polarity?
Needless to say, there are many variables apart from the above.
