How to remove or modify the username and password of DM-500s?

hello! I have a DM500s given by my friend. Now, i tried to flash the image, but the username:root and passwrod:dreambox is not right. I also tried to click the "RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS" but there is a 4 digit passcode to get into that menu. is there any way that i can remove the passcode and uncover the username and password? I tried to use through FTP because i dont ahve the RS232 cable to connect to my PC. Please give me advise on what to do. Thank you very much for your help.

Hi there! Thank you for your suggestion. my problem is that if i will use the Flashwizard (using IP address) i cannot connect to the box since the username and password is needed. I never tried to use RS232 cable to flash the box. If i use the RS232 cable to flash the box, what's the best program to use? thanks in advance!

For rs 232 use DreamUP to flash your box. Be shure to flash erase first and use dm500_rel109-20060803, you may dowload it from internet.

use dreamup and do rs232 an flash through there

if u want to change the password on dreambox you need to telnet over windows and just do :

open ip address

passwd

and change it
