hard to undestand

Hello all you good people.
I've been browsing this forum for over 3 hours now and besides learning on how satelite encryption works I really haven't found anything to help me in my quest. Forum is packed with information but newbie like me can't use it. I purchesed Chess Digital 4000 FTA reciver and noticed that keys are getting old and I can't watch more and more channels. I'm not going to ask you to do anything for me but just to point me in right direction. What software do I need to connect my reciver to my PC? (I only know null modem cable is required and that there is software for it) I found this thread http://satsupreme.com/showthread.php?t=5143 with firmware updeate but I don't know what to do with the bin file. Also I would like to know how to edit keys (so far I know how to do it with remote) and wich key goes where (I'm kinda shooting in the dark becouse I don't even know when did I do it right). I hope I'm not asking too much and I'm sorry if posting in wrong section. Cheers

If you don't ask, you never learn. Have a good read of this and I know you will then have the right questions. And I mean study it thoroughly.
