Dreambox newbie

Hi everyone

I am getting a Dreambox 500 for xmas, lucky me lol. To load cams/emulators to open channels, do I need to flash it or can these cams/emulators be loaded onto the dreambox straight from the box.

I have got a null modem cable to flash if need be!!!.

Any advice would be nice.
