Lou Taylor Pucci stars in Mike Mills' comedy-drama about a teen's difficult passage into adulthood. Justin Cobb is 17 and suffering the trials of every other kid his age. But his default coping mechanism, sucking his thumb, both singles him out from his cohort and enrages his father, Mike, who seems to take the aberration as a personal affront. A cure clearly needs to be found. But, when Mike's humiliating home-grown solution fails and the efforts of Justin's holistic orthodontist Dr Perry Lyman have just as little effect, it's decided it's time for the lad to see a doctor. He's diagnosed with ADHD and the prescribed drugs do indeed tackle the problem. Unfortunately they also radically, and negatively, transform the mild-mannered teen's character... Also starring Tilda Swinton, as Justin's mum, and Vince Vaughn, as his highly unconventional school debating team coach.
