Hi all,
Just had my 80cm dish installed with twin monoblock lnb to pick up hotbird and astra1.
Also bought technomate 1500+ (obviously why im here) and im trying to get my head around some of the terminology on here.

So first thing I did was patch the receiver with darkmans latest patch, that all appeared to work fine, however it didnt seem to have unlocked any channels. I noticed under menu->System Information there are menus for CAS and BISS. Under CAS i noticed i can see lots of different slots for cams, i assume these are like "virtual" slots for each cam.. am i supposed to mess with these at all?
I changed the opening 4 or 5 to just different encryption so it now looks like
irde/beta, seca, idea/beta, nagra, crypto.

After much browsing around the channels i noticed the German Premier channels were unlocked, cool! (tho this may have been working before i messed around in the CAS menu). So next I came on here to read some more and keep seeing a reference to something called TPS, tho ive no idea what TPS is?!? and "softkeys" which seem to have a connection to the cam/encryption in some way... can someone explain this to me in plain english?

So then I thought "right, im obviously supposed to upload one of these tps bin files?!" so i downloaded the latest one "TechnomatE by LR1TpS AbSaT OK 19 To 20.3.2007" and now Premier isnt working again.... bugger.

Can someone tell me, nice and simply, what im supposed to do with a new box? Install darkman patch then install that TPS file? Just install Darkman patch? install something different from Darkman? Throw my box out the window?

Believe it or not Im completely IT literate and usually find anything technical a breeze, but trying to get my head around something new like this when there is little or no plain english explanation is causing me a lot of confusion.

Not 100% certain if it's the same, but I have a 1600, and am using the latest darkman patch, so I'll post what I know:

Install the darkman patch only (reinstall it if you've put any others in)

You will have a few things working, but most of the feeds change their decryption k** data on a regular basis. Look in the forum for updated ones (they will be in hex format, n*g*a uses a 16 byte system for example, and they get shown in the broadcast box at the top right of the forum screens).

Taking the example of D+ (which changes basically every day) - you get either an 00, or an 01 K** of the form:
D+ K** 01 : 87 D5 8A 25 B9 AE EE 35 CA 67 88 02 FE 5C 65 95

Now, go into the CAS menu, with the different virtual decrypters, and find the entry for D+ (it's provider number 4001, and has the name in one of the fields on mine - you can find provider idents on the forum too if you don't get the names on the 1500).

You will find that you have a set of entries in 8 byte hex labelled 10, 11, 20, 21. Basically, for 00 k**s you need to put the first 8 bytes into 10, and the second into 11, and for 01's you put the first 8 into 20, and the second 8 into 21. Use the number keys, and the {info} key to select A through F. Once you've entered them, press exit, and save when asked.

I assume the others are similar, and you will just need to hunt the numbers, but this is the only one I've tried, and know works for sure...

you can download four video's, and keep on your pc:
where you wont deleate them, these video's show all
you need to know for the technomate.
IE: patching, add keys with the remote, softcamkeys fles
how to enter ,and all the shortcuts. these are a must for
all new users, to get them go to this site, and at the top of the screen
you will see three capital letters IE:GXR you enter these in the bar
along side them and click download then just follow the instructions
and download them, i found these searching for something else.
i cant download them to the forum for everyone they are very big files

Got my Technomate box a week and a half ago and I've been going cross eyed reading stuff about mods and updaters.
