RTL Deutschland gets licence for Geo Television

German commercial broadcast group Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland has received a broadcast licence from the media authorities for its planned pay-TV documentary channel Geo Television.

The channel will launch in the first half of 2014 as a nationwide service. The programme schedule will comprise national and international documentaries from the areas of nature, mankind, technology, science and history.
