The Playwire online video publishing, hosting and monetisation platform has revealed a very strong start to 2014 with what it claims is outstanding growth in the first quarter of the year.

The platform is designed to provide publishers with one place where they can encode, host, syndicate, stream and monetise their video content, while giving advertisers a destination to buy video inventory and engage with audiences.

For the whole of 2013, Playwire says that it added over 3,300 new publishers and now hosts more than 730,000 videos encoded through its platform. This represents a 275% increase compared with the 1,200 accounts created in 2012. Since expanding its video offerings in December 2013 to include ad formats for nearly all mobile devices, Playwire has had more than 40 million mobile views through its platform, streaming videos to viewers in over 165 countries. Furthermore, the company says that in the near three years after launching in 2011, there have been 1.2 billion ads viewed on its platform, while 430 million have been viewed in Q1 2014, signifying what it describes as a “massive” increase in overall user engagement.

“The tremendous growth we have experienced shows that the online video market is only just beginning to transform the advertising world. We are particularly proud that our service will allow fair and transparent monetisation of content for publishers and creators,” said Playwire www.playwire.com CEO and founder Jayson Dubin.

“Our current surge in participation and usage justifies recent data that shows digital ad revenue surpassing broadcast for the first time, and we see this trend continuing throughout the year. As content migrates to the digital space, it will be increasingly important for creators to not only monetise their content, but also control their intellectual property.”
