NanoTech Entertainment’s Nuvola NP-1 4K UltraHD streaming media player for consumers has passed the Google Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) certification tests, paving the way for shipments of the NP-1 on Android devices.

CTS certification allows users access to Google's library apps available in the Google Play Store and ensures the integrity of the device.

"We're very pleased and proud that the Nuvola NP-1 has passed the Google CTS certification testing," said Aaron Taylor, NanoTech's executive vice president of sales and marketing. "This is a major milestone for the product because our customers need to be confident that their source is authorised for downloading and using all the cool apps, video, games, etc. in the Google Play Store. We sacrificed earlier shipping dates so we could include several new features in our device, all built upon the Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS. Consumer satisfaction is our top priority."

Android 4.4 supports video modes available for the US, Asia and Europe (720p, 1080p and 2160p at 24Hz, 25Hz, and 30Hz), and provides improved memory management, a reduced memory footprint and enhanced security. In addition, applications that embed Web content can now use Chrome to render Web components. It also has built-in support for cloud storage solution such as Google Drive, so Nuvola users can open files directly from the cloud, without having to first download them.

The Nuvola NP-1 is a multifunction device that can be used to decode a variety of video formats and resolutions including 4K UltraHD, HD, SD and 3D.
