Maybe not quite in the same league of the iPhone 6, or even interactive watches, Apple TV has made a significant move of its own with the addition of the NOW TV over the top service to its line-up.
BSkyB asserts that by adding its OTT pack to Apple TV it has become automatically the online video bouquet's 'most comprehensive' linear pay-TV service.
The service is available from the NOW TV Box, Apple TV, iPad and iPhone as well as 50 other devices. Sky is offering Apple the full range of its sports, entertainment and films channels. Apple TV users in the UK will be able to have live and on-demand access to the NOW TV Entertainment Month Pass and Sky Movies Month Pass which will include access to Barclays Premier League football as well as action from The Ryder Cup gold tournament starting 27 September, Sky Bet Football League UEFA Champions League, European Qualifiers, La Liga and Eredivisie, as well as Formula 1 motor racing.
Describing the deal, Gidon Katz, Director of NOW TV, said: "Great news for Apple TV users today as we bring our range of NOW TV passes to the service. There's never been a better time to get stuck into gripping box sets like The Walking Dead or The West Wing, right from the very first episode, plus get unlimited access to hundreds of the latest award-winning movies like American Hustle – straight to your main TV screen."
