beIN’s Barça-Atléti coverage beats out NFL playoffs

Proving that international football continues to grow in popularity in the US, beIN SPORTS' broadcast of the Barcelona v Atlético Madrid match was the leading sports telecast of the day for 11 January.


It was also the No.1 sports telecast for the week of 5 January among Spanish-language cable networks, according to Nielsen Media Research. In fact, it outperformed every sports telecast that aired on ESPN Deportes and Fox Deportes among Hispanics for the week of 5 January, including, shockingly, the American football play-offs.

Demonstrating the popularity of Spanish football in particular, the match out-delivered all Liga MX matches on Univison Deportes Network, including the top two matches on 10 January (Chivas & America games respectively), and all English Premier League matches on Mun2.

Among Hispanic viewers (beIN has the exclusive rights for all La Liga games in the US), the Barcelona vs. Atlético Madrid match was the No. 5 sports telecast for the week, delivering an average of 667,000 total viewers on beIN SPORTS en Español.
