Verimatrix has acquired Concurrent's multiscreen video analytics business for an undisclosed sum.

The security firm is also hiring members of Concurrent's video analytics team in order to continue delivering uninterrupted services to existing pay-TV customers, it said.

"The sale of our video analytics business to Verimatrix is consistent with our plan to simplify our operating model and sharpen our focus on strategic initiatives," said Derek Elder, CEO of Concurrent. "We believe this will enable us to better serve new opportunities that take advantage of our core competencies in high performance Linux and storage."

For instance, Concurrent will focus on content delivery and storage, and has announced a major release of its Unified Content Delivery Solution that includes enhanced support for cloud DVR and 4K streaming services.

System release version 3.0 offers performance and feature enhancements, as well as pre-certified integrations with an extended range of ecosystem partners in support of next generation IP, over-the-top (OTT) and set-top box services.

"We are excited to announce the 3.0 release of our Unified Content Delivery Solution," said Matt Smith, vice president of product line management for Concurrent.

"Our latest software enables customers to launch new services more quickly to address an increasingly fragmented device landscape. By combining support for many video formats, streaming protocols, and consumer applications into one powerful content delivery network solution, we are making it easier for our customers to offer a richer, more connected, multiscreen experience for their subscribers."
