Mexico's pay-TV and fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) provider, Axtel, has taken on Latin America's Formula One network, Canal F1.
Through the agreement, the channel strengthens its distribution in Mexico, where it's already available on Totalplay and Televisa's Izzi Telecom and Sky.
The network is programmed by Mediapro - which manages Formula One rights for the region - and is exclusively focused on motor racing. It broadcasts live every Grand Prix and qualifiers, and other competitions such as GP2, GP3, Porsche Super Cup and TCR.
The HD channel will be available for Axtel's subs in Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Puebla, Queretaro, San Luis Potosi, Aguascalientes, Toluca, Ciudad Juarez and Leon.
Among other pan-American distribution deals, Mediapro has seen particular success in Mexico, as the World Championship returns to the country in 2016, after a 23-year break.
"Axtel adds a premium channel to its platform, a network following motor competitions 365 days a year 24/7, and the only one offering live and in HD every Grand Prix of the year," said Javier Villanueva, executive director, Canal F1 Latin America.
