Sony Pictures appoints new networks VP for Mexico

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has promoted José Antonio Hidalgo to general manager and VP for pay-TV networks in Mexico, responsible for AXN and Canal Sony.
hidalgoHidalgo, who was named ad sales VP of SPT Mexico a few months ago, will now be at the front of income and expenditure management, programming, marketing, business development and affiliate relations in a recently-created position.
"Hidalgo's knowledge of the Mexican TV market and his multinational experience make him the ideal candidate to lead our channel in Mexico," said TC Schultz, executive VP and networks manager for Latin America and Brazil. "This appointment means a step forward for our channels in a unique territory, in which we intend to grow and improve our brands."
Before arriving at Sony Pictures, Hidalgo was VP for the content services provider Vubiquity, media director for SSL Digital and general manager of IZ-ON Media in Mexico.
He also worked as business developer for NBCUniversal's Telemundo for the Mexican and the US Hispanic markets, and for Televisa Networks, where he supervised various pay-TV operations across Latin America.
Hidalgo started his professional career working for FOX Television Networks covering Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
