Already in talks with some of Latin America's major content distributors, like Televisa and Cisneros, Grupo Secuoya is readying its newly-licensed DTT free-to-air (FTA) channel in Spain.
The seven-year-old Spanish group has a solid commercial presence in Peru, Chile, Colombia and the US Hispanic market, territories which pushed Secuoya's income up 22% in 2014.
Speaking to El Mundo, Raúl Berdonés, president at Grupo Secuoya, said he has had meetings in New York and Mexico during recent weeks to create the best content offer for the new DTT network, which has been temporarily named as D10.
"Sony, Warner, Fox, Discovery, Televisa ... We have been meeting with every major. We have to look for the best partners for this trip," said Berdonés. The group has also committed to be airing Spanish productions on 40% of its broadcasting space by 2019.
Entering the late prime time slot debate in Spain, Berdonés said that Secuoya's new channel intends to start its prime time window at 8.30pm, two hours earlier than all other networks.
Regarding D10's premiere, the DTT licences are expected to be made official today (Friday 16 October), after which Secuoya intends to launch by the end of December, and be fully working with a 24/7 content portfolio around March 2016.
