ABC, Calamity Jane to bring back Spanish classic

Originally produced in Spain by Boomerang TV, Motivos Personales (Personal Reasons) is to be remade by the US's ABC and Calamity Jane - Ellen Pompeo's production company.


motivosThe thriller, which ten years ago hit over six million viewers during its first season on Mediaset's Telecinco, follows the path of The Mysteries of Laura, also originally produced by Boomerang in Spain, which has been produced by Warner Bros and is airing on NBC.

The pilot will be scripted by Andy Stern and will represent the first local adaptation of the format, although Motivos Personales did air in France, Mexico, Brazil and US Hispanics a decade ago, following its success in Spain.

The Boomerang TV thriller follows a journalist who tries to solve a murder in which her own husband is the main suspect. The series stars in Spanish actors including Lydia Bosch, Fernando Guillen and Concha Velasco.

The announcement is further good news for Boomerang TV's which has some of Spain's most successful formats such as The Time In Between and the recently premiered Plastic Sea.
