Indian regional TV channel Colors Kannada will once again air Bigg Boss this October after wresting the regional reality show away from rival Star Suvarna.
The third season of the local variation of the Endemol format Bigg Boss (known elsewhere in the world as Big Brother) will air on Colors Kannada from 25 October on Monday to Friday between 9pm and10pm, and at the weekend from 9-10.30pm.
The Hindi version of the reality show is currently on air on parent company Network18's flagship Hindi pay-TV channel Colors.
The last season of Big Boss Kannada aired on Star Suvarna in 2014.
"When we had Bigg Boss on the channel in 2013, things were different. It actually gave the channel the impetus to forge ahead. Over the past three years, Colors Kannada (which was ETV Kannada back then) has had an eventful journey from No 4 to No 1 and Bigg Boss was one of the drivers. This time too, we expect the show to help consolidate our position further," Ravish Kumar, EVP Viacom18 and project head - Colors Kannada, Colors Bangla and Colors Odiya told Business Standard.
Viacom18 rebranded its ETV Kannada channel Colors Kannada in April 2015.
Colors Kannada also plans to launch three fiction shows, beginning with Kinari – which follows the relationship of a mother and her daughter – on 2 November at 6pm. Gandhari, about a man who aspired to become a pilot until losing his eyesight and who now lives his dreams through his wife, will launch on 23 November at 10.30pm. A third, yet untitled show, is set to air on the same day
