One of Ecuador's most popular daily newspapers, El Comercio, has selected Level 3's content delivery network (CDN) to create a new online experience including video and media-rich content.

El Comercio's website is one of the main sites in Ecuador for news and information. With millions of visitors each day, the news outlet is a source for high quality video and media content, all of which is supported and delivered by Level 3's CDN services.

"Implementing CDN had a significant impact in our organisation, from changing our IT internal architecture to decreasing maintenance and IT staff costs; it enabled streamlining of our website performance," said Hernando González, chief information officer, El Comercio. "The main benefits of having a CDN are improvement of website response times and customer experience, data protection, reduced bandwidth consumption and cost."

According to the company, Level 3's CDN provides reliability as bandwidth demands change, content performance securing availability, and security features including encrypted delivery and support for multiple authentication methods.

"With the continued rise in online and mobile applications has come the explosion of bandwidth-heavy content such as HD video, image-filled Web pages and streaming music, making it even more critical for content companies to use the right infrastructure to provide smooth and fast delivery," added Francisco Guzmán, sales director of Level 3 in Ecuador.
