Further extending the content firm's digital reach, Apple News customers in the UK can now access and customise Sky News' feed directly on their mobile devices.
Sky News currently boasts on average more than 25 million digital users and social media fans and subscribers per month. The new agreement builds on the content company's digital business push that already sees Sky News available on mobile, online, social, Snapchat, connected TV, radio and the iPad. iPhone users with iOS 9.1 will now be able to see the Apple News icon on their home page, offering information on business, politics, technology, fashion and more.
"Sky News is always interested in embracing technology that lets us reach our customers wherever they want to access our content," said Sky News director of products Andrew Hawken. "I'm thrilled that our world-class journalism is now being showcased to millions of Apple News customers both in the UK and the US. This is an exciting time for Sky News' digital development."
Sky added that its own second-screen news app was undergoing "significant" developments, the first stage of which it said would be available before the end of the year.
