China's digital video platform iQIYI has agreed a content deal with NBCUniversal for the Hollywood studio's library titles and all new movies released in China for "the next few years".

The Baidu-owned video-on-demand (VOD) operator has already been working to promote NBC Pictures in China, including the franchises Fast & Furious and Jurassic Park, to coincide with the theatrical release of their latest instalments.

"It has been a great pleasure to cooperate with NBCUniversal. We are looking forward to introducing even more great films from Universal Pictures to our members through our expanded collaboration," said Xianghua Yang, senior vice president, iQIYI.

Belinda Menendez, president, NBCUniversal International Distribution & Networks, added: "We are pleased to expand upon our existing deal with iQIYI and partner with them to bring Universal Pictures' diverse catalogue of films to their fast-growing subscriber base."

iQIYI – which offers both domestic and international films and TV content – had a paid subscriber base of five million as of 15 June 2015.
