Netflix debuts in Italy

SVOD leader Netflix has kept up a rapid pace of expansion into new territories and has now launched in Italy after its debut this week in Spain and Portugal.


Pricing in Southern Europe is at $9 per month for one SD connection, or $11.35 per month for two simultaneous HD connections.

Netflix will be available across smart TVs, tablets, smartphones, game consoles and computers. The company has also struck a deal with Telecom Italia to make Netflix available on TIMvision. Vodafone is also offering several exclusive promotions that include Netflix subscriptions.

The company has an Italian original content series slated to premiere in 2017. Stars including Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black), Will Arnett (Bojack Horseman), Daredevil producer Steven DeKnight, Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Daryl Hannah (Sense8) and Pierfrancesco Favino (Marco Polo) all appeared in Milan to celebrate the launch.
