The Dallas Cowboys met its divisional rival the New York Giants on Sunday — with major ratings success for FOX prime time.

The highly anticipated NFC East showdown - which saw the Cowboys lose 20-27 to the Giants in a game that featured three interceptions for the struggling team's new quarterback, Matt Cassel - gave FOX's sitcoms a huge lead-in, boosting it to second place finish in the key 18-49 demographic in prime time.

FOX's NFL game nabbed 20.1 million viewers, with the 7.30pm post-game show claiming ten million viewers. The Simpsons at 8pm then saw a whopping 59% uptick from last week to 6.7 million viewers. Brooklyn Nine-Nine at 8.30pm saw an even more impressive 67% increase to 4.3 million viewers, while Family Guy jumped 29% to 3.9 million viewers and Last Man on Earth saw a 40% increase to 3.4 million viewers.

NBC won the night with Sunday Night Football, predictably, with total viewers averaging of 15.6 million.
