Akamai reports double-digit revenue growth for Q3

Akamai has reported revenue of $551 million for its third quarter earnings, up 11% year-over-year.


The content delivery network (CDN) provider saw media delivery solutions revenue of $245 million, up 5% year-over-year; performance and security solutions revenue was $263 million, up 15% year-over-year; service and support solutions revenue was $43 million, up 19% year-over-year.

"The third quarter was another solid quarter for Akamai on both the top and bottom lines," said Tom Leighton, Akamai CEO. "We delivered earnings that exceeded our expectations, even as we continued to invest in innovation, new products and global infrastructure to meet future demand."

Akamai, which recently integrated with Microsoft Azure on the CDN front, saw US revenue account for most of the bookings, and came in at $401 million, a 10% increase over Q3 2014. International revenue was $150 million, a 12% increase over Q3 2014.

Profit was $88 million, down 3% over Q3 2014 net income of $91 million.
