Star India has acquired the broadcast rights for Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne's Cricket All-Stars T20 exhibition tournament in the USA.

The two cricket legends will captain their respective star-studded teams at baseball grounds Citi Field in New York, Minute Maid Park in Houston and the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

Participating greats from India – other than Tendulkar – include Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Ajit Agarkar, who join retired players from seven other countries. These include Pakistan's Wasim Akram, West Indies' Brian Lara, South Africa's Jacques Kallis, England's Michael Vaughan, Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene and Australia's Ricky Ponting.

"We want to leave an impression behind," Sachin Tendulkar told the Wall Street Journal. "That's what we are here for: to entertain people, to leave great memories behind and get them excited about some quality cricket."

21st Century Fox-owned Star India has adopted a strategy to optimise its pay-TV revenues through sports broadcasting. This latest cricket acquisition adds to its media rights to the Board of Control for Cricket in India's domestic and international matches in India until 2018 and digital rights for the Indian Premier League (IPL) until 2017.

The action, sponsored by Mastercard, begins in New York on 7 November.
