RTVE, Cellnex Telecom, Hispasat, Dolby and SAPEC are taking the latest in Ultra HD broadcasting to the 4K World Summit Sevilla on 5-6 November.

In one of the first live demonstrations of 4K broadcasting on DTT networks using the DVB-T2 standard with high dynamic range (HDR) content, Cellnex Telecom will broadcast from its 500W centre in Valencia to Seville. Transmitting at 34Mbps, the channel will include Dolby Vision HDR, Wider Colour Gamut (WCG) and audio Dolby AC-4.

Last year RTVE claimed to be the first to broadcast Ultra HD using the DVB-T2 standard in a project consisting of the compression and broadcast of La Pasión del Prado, an Ultra HD documentary co-produced by RTVE, Hispasat, Abertis (Cellnex's parent company) and various other audiovisual companies.

RTVE, Hispasat and Cellnex will also present a simultaneous 4K broadcast through a hybrid TV (HbbTV) service using two different standards -DVB-T2 and DVB-S2. The signal will be HVEC codified at 25p and 50p, opening a window to introduce Ultra HD to RTVE's hybrid, interactive, DTT platform Botón Rojo.
