Movistar activates TV everywhere in Chile

Movistar Play, Movistar's streaming, video-on-demand (VOD) platform in Chile, is to add 15 live channels for mobile devices.


movistarplayThe new TV everywhere service relaunches the VOD platform, which offers an on-demand library of 1,500 titles and pay-per-view blockbusters in SD and HD for connected and mobile screens.

The TV everywhere feature is free for IPTV convergent subscribers and will cost between $2-3 for regular broadband or pay-TV subscribers.

"We aim to extend TV experience through mobile devices, so our customers can watch their favourite contents anytime at any place," said Rodrigo Sajurio, products and services manager, Movistar. "This new platform takes us to the forefront of over-the-top services and we intend to keep improving both regarding content and services."

The Movistar Play platform is also supported by Apple TV and Chromecast devices, enabling mobile users to display the TV everywhere content on their big screens.

Channels available for live streaming are TVN, UCV, 24 Horas, CNN Chile, BBC Entertainment, Sundance, ESPN3, El Gourmet, H2, Stingray Concerts, Cbeebies, Hola TV, TYC Sports, BBC World and ComparTV.

Movistar is said to be negotiating with other channels' programmers and distributors to increase the offer.
