Revealing a positive quarter for the first time in seven years, Vodafone Spain is blooming thanks to a growing pay-TV offer nearing the one million subs barrier.
During Q3 2015, Vodafone TV - which has incorporated ONO subscribers - added 77,600 accesses and closed September with 902,000 subs. In addition, the intelligent TV offer powered by TiVo, which was formerly exclusive to ONO clients, gained 126,000 new customers.
The British telco has also reported growth in fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) households, which accounted for 1.82 million by the end of the quarter. Fibre is one of the cores of Vodafone's convergent offer, Vodafone One, which has also rocketed driven by ONO's pay-TV package, and has added 800,000 subs since it launched in April.
But Vodafone's largest sector in Spain is still mobile telecoms. The telco had 14.19 million mobile subscriptions by September, after adding 85,000 new subs during Q3. Over 4.3 million mobile clients now pay for a 4G package.
Between July and September, the telco invoiced €1.25 billion (€2.49 billion since Vodafone's fiscal year started in March). The figure represents 1.1% growth compare to the same period last year. This is the first quarter to show a positive result since Q3 2008.
