Cartoon Network's sister channel Boomerang is making its debut in South Korea on 14 November, when it launches across major cable and IPTV platforms.
The all-animation channel, aimed at children aged from four to nine, will be available in Korean. New episodes of Warner Bros favourites The Tom and Jerry Show, Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo will be among the content available, along with new series Wabbit and Bunnicula.
Korean content will also be a feature of the channel, and Turner says it will "continue to seek out opportunities to be a part of local animation projects". The US broadcaster recently unveiled a co-production deal with Synergy Media and Studio Goindol for the show Beat Monsters, its largest ever animation project in Korea.
"Turner has already made a firm commitment to the local animation industry over the years and this investment is set to continue," said Phil Nelson, managing director for North Asia, Turner International.
Boomerang is already widely available across pay-TV platforms in Southeast Asia and Australia. With the channel's expansion to Korea there are now plans to localise the Asia Pacific Watch and Play app.
