Samsung will deploy Vonetize’s SmartVOD platform on millions of devices throughout Latin America.
Together, Vonetize and Samsung will roll out the offering to countries across the region in the coming months, giving users the ability to access content directly on their smart TVs and mobile devices.
Vonetize’s SmartVOD service features multi-category premium Hollywood films and TV series, and is already available in over 30 countries worldwide. The company has licensing contracts with top-tier studios, including Disney, Warner Brothers, Fox, Universal, Sony Pictures, Miramax, MGM, and others.
The launch in Latin America will focus on allowing the on-demand rental and purchase of the latest blockbuster releases without requiring any commitment. All of the transactional content, including 3D movies, will be delivered in full HD 1080p, with some in 4K. Films and TV shows will be localised through subtitles, dubbing and UI language. Users will also be able to download purchased content to their tablets or smartphones for viewing offline.
“With the rollout of SmartVOD in Latin America, we are very excited to continue our partnership with Samsung, one of the biggest players in the consumer electronics market,” said Noam Josephides, CEO at Vonetize.
“At Vonetize, we are always looking for new ways to make superior video content accessible through smart devices across global markets, and Latin America is taking quantum leaps towards interconnectedness via technology. Working together with Samsung in Latin America is a groundbreaking opportunity to match the best devices on the market with top-quality content for the ultimate consumer experience.”
According to IDC, IT growth in Latin America this year will outpace the global average of 3.7%, and by the end 2015 will house approximately 291 million connected devices.
Vonetize continues to chase the worldwide opportunity. Last year, Vonetize launched what it says is the first ever over-the-top (OTT) Hollywood premium service in Africa.
