Almost one in two TVs bought in Argentina since January are smart, and nearly all of them are large.
According to a report by Carrier y Asociados, smart TVs are growing in importance in Argentina. While in 2014 32% of purchased TVs were smart, the rate has grown to 45% during the first three quarters of 2015.
Regarding sizes, one in 10 screens smaller than 32'' is smart, while nearly every screen over 50'' is interactive.
“TVs are not simple screens any more, they are becoming one more connected device at home, together with smartphones, tablets and computers,” explained Carrier y Asociados in a note. “And this happens in spite of smart TVs still being at the beginning of their path, with several smart platforms not yet supporting the most popular apps.”
The Argentinian trend is experienced all over Latin America, with connected devices expected to rocket through the next years. According to a Dataxis report, there are currently 24.8 million smart TVs in the region, but the digits are set to double within three years.
