Turkish drama is set to debut in Nigeria, after Cool TV acquired local rights for the crime drama series Ezel from Indian distributor GoQuest Media.
Cool TV, which is available both free-to-air (FTA) and on pay-TV platforms, will show 155 episodes of the Ay Yapim-produced drama. Set in modern day Istanbul and starring İsmail Filiz, the show centres on the character Omar who is intent on revenge after suffering betrayal at the hands of the love of his life and best friends.
This latest deal follows Ezel’s introduction to Ugandan audiences after a licensing deal between Bukedde TV and local rights distributor GoQuest Media.
“Ezel continues to go from strength to strength. The great storylines, beautiful production values and top class actors mean this show has wide appeal. We hope that this deal with Nigeria and the previous one with Uganda are just the start of our relationship with GoQuest Media and the African continent,” said Handan Özkubat, head of Istanbul office at the show’s global rights holder Eccho Rights.
Vivek Lath, managing director, GoQuest Media, said: “We have always enjoyed good relationships with broadcasters in Nigeria and continue to license popular Indian series in the territory. Continuing with our initiative to provide innovative content, we look forward to bring interesting game show formats and entertaining scripts to Nigeria in the near future”.
Ezel is also aired by Viasat Tanzania and Ghana.
