CE giant Samsung Electronics sold more than $1 billion worth of TVs in October in North America.
Those results set a new monthly sales record, the company said, thanks in part to “interactive experience marketing,” to about 600 Best Buy stores. The Samsung-dedicated area let consumers explore Samsung products, including 4KTVs and audio systems. The manufacturer also installed a brand wall made of Samsung TV screens in about 2,600 Walmart stores.
The $1 billion sales level compares with September 2004, when the company posted $100 million in monthly sales for the first time, and October 2007, when sales hit $500 million.
In 4K Ultra HD TVs, Samsung said that these accounted for more than half of all sales in the third quarter of 2015, or 52.1% of sales in the US and 54.4% in Canada.
The company’s subset of 4K TVs with SUHD features high dynamic range (HDR) technology to increase the brightness range and contrast ratio of 4K programming. The TVs also feature nano crystal technology to widen the colour gamut.
