Mexico's telecoms authority, Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT), has scheduled one last analogue switch-off in advance of the general switch-off at the end of the year.

56 more analogue stations will go dark on 22 December, corresponding to different areas in the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosi, Sonora and Zacatecas.

The move follows the announcement last week of a switch-off in mid December which will affect states including Baja California, Jalisco, Michoacan and Tamaulipas.

According to the IFT, the decision was made after ensuring that 90% of those on a low income had received the necessary technology to continue to receive a television signal.

The analogue signal will be completely turned off at midnight on 31 December.
