The most registered devices for Spain's Yomvi are smartphones, and they are top when it comes to live streaming.

During a workshop, Movistar+ revealed several statistics regarding its video-on-demand (VOD) and streaming platform which is seen as Netflix's largest competitor in Spain.

Telefónica's service has nearly 490,000 registered smartphones, 77% of whose connections were used to stream live content.

Indeed, smartphones were used in seven out of ten occasions when live content was consumed. The average connection time for small mobile devices is 20 minutes.

The second most used screens are smart TVs, which are also the preferred device for VOD and content, whose average viewing length nears an hour. Tablets and personal computers complete Yomvi's podium of most used screens.

Despite Netflix's disruption of the Spanish market less than two months ago, Yomvi is still the leader regarding catalogue and consumption volume. While the American subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service has not yet revealed its figures, Yomvi is said to have over one million unique subs who consume 14 million pieces of VOD content per month.

Comparing catalogues, Yomvi has 6,000 titles, 43% of which are series, and the portfolio grows to 15,000 titles if Canal+ Cine's movie offer is added. Newcomer Netflix has less than 1,500 titles.

In two years, Yomvi's data traffic has increased by 293%, last month exceeding 20,000Tb.
