Movistar Colombia has launched Estrenos, a new platform within its video-on-demand (VOD) service to deliver high definition (HD) premieres of the latest blockbusters.

Kicking off with titles including Fifty Shades of Grey, Jurassic World and The Avengers: Age of Ultron, the pay-per-view platform intends to strengthen Movistar Video, Telefónica's VOD service in Colombia.

Customers can have access to each single movie for $2.50 for a period of 24 hours to watch in HD or standard definition (SD) on TVs, computers, tablets and smartphones. Payment can be made through monthly invoice, although Telefónica intends to enable one-time, credit card payment soon.

“Through this announcement, Movistar ratifies its commitment with service and innovation. We have digital transformation among our main goals,” said Ariel Pontón, CEO, Movistar Colombia. “Estrenos Movistar Video increases entertainment possibilities for our clients, strengthening our offering for the younger generations who prefer to consume content through the Internet.”
